The world of Yggdrasil is a land of mystery, chaos, and harmony all at the same time - at one point you could be in the plains of Asgard, the next you could find yourself in the forest of Nif which is the border between the covenant of Hel and the Jotun Empire. Three kingdoms reside within this land, they are as follows: Svartl Empire, Covenant of Hel, and Jotun Empire - these empires have been to war with one another for the longest of times - within these kingdoms there are many places and villages that either live under the protection of one of the kingdoms or are under tyranny of it. As well, we will talk about the perks one can get if they swear fealty to one of these empires, and what one can hope to gain out of this.

Svartl Empire:

Unlike the other two the Svartl Empire is a very proud kingdom that does everything with balance, they have both some of the best political representatives in the Yggdrasil as well as some of the best Warriors to boot. Svartl Empire is at war with the Covenant of Hel, and they both frequent battles between one another. The king of the Svartl Empire is an untrustworthy man and always holds everyone at arm's length even his most trusted emissaries, and commanders. The most within Svartlheim are comprised of Elven class players and NPC's, dwarves and giants are welcomed to enter the land, trade, and even set up shop with proper allowances; however humans are not welcome, humans are seen as a genetic imperfection by the Empire and while some do not share the empire's vision of this, most do. It is for that reason alone that humans have been banned from the Svartl Empire.

Villages within Svartl Empire:

Tham Village, Ner Village, Thune Village (NOTE:All villages when the game was being made all have the same layout, only difference is that some contain more citizens in it than others, this is sometimes due to the influx of people who seek to run away from cottages that were attacked by anything from Bandits, to Beasts and beasts creatures, and even the Covenant.)

  • Enrollment & Perks: While the Empire does not accept just anyone, those who are of at least tier 3 magic, and at least a Silver Adventurer's level before their application can even be taken into consideration. After your request is submitted, you are given an inspection this is to reassure that you are at peak performance. Then, once accepted you will have access to tier magic up to level six, three extra martial arts slots up to an expertise level, your own house within the kingdom or one of the villages, and five thousand Heir upon joining. Your reputation with the Covenant of Hel will dwindle and you will be seen as the enemy with no chance of fixing yourself with the said perk, you become Neutral with the Jotun and can take either route as far as your reputational status goes. If you choose to defect, you are stripped of your Adventurer's rank, and you are automatically branded a criminal by the Empire and a bounty is placed on your head.

The Covenant of Hel

Located in the southern part of Yggdrasil lies the kingdom known as the Covenant of Hel, this kingdom holds some of Yggdrasil's most dangerous, and gifted spellcasters. The Covenant of Hel is a twisted group that wants nothing more than to bring the world Chaos and overthrow anyone who stands for justice, this specifically includes the Svartl Empire. Their realm is a dark one, as it is always night within the kingdom, and an everlasting storm lingers over it. The Covenant believes that their powers come directly from a world far beyond Yggdrasil, a dark one that is home to an evil goddess, and believe that she will one day bring about ruin to Yggdrasil. Those that Dwell within the Covenant are that of Skeletal beings, demons and all things inhuman. Dwarves and elves are not welcome here, as they are mortal enemies to the covenant having fought for years on end to eradicate one another. Humans are welcome as they are seen as tools to be used to gain more power, and the edge to take over Yggdrasil.

Villages in the Covenant:

Because most of the villages are deserted ghost towns that have been terrorized by the covenant and the citizens that it houses, there are no villagers, and those that do live are either in constant hiding or are terrorized by the covenant.

  • Enrollment & Perks: Since the covenant houses some of the most prominent magic users in all of Yggdrasil, the requirements first and foremost the must have mastered at least a tier magic of Six, as well as an expertise in Wild Magic in order to be considered among the ranks. Not only that one must be well-versed in metamagic enhancements as well - knowing at least two to four skills within this category to qualify, once accepted one must then give themselves to the goddess and receive her blessing to complete the initiation. Those that join the covenant get access to eighth tier magic (That is either learned eventually through leveling or through a special item accessed.), as well as have four extra slots for skills open up. Not only that they are given a special armor giving the user the blessing of Fylgja, giving the user's tier magic one full tier boost as long as the armor is warm the whole time (This may not exceed the eighth tier magic unless the user is of proper level.). Defecting from the guild warrants the user be given four full days to run from the covenant before being hunted down, and taken back to be sacrificed by the covenant as an offering to their deity.

Jotun Empire

In the north lies the Jotun Empire, a place covered in ice - located atop a great mountain they have named the Tusks of Jor for its tusk-like features, the jotun empire houses some of the greatest martial artists to have walked the face of the land. To add to this, this is also where the Svartl soldiers come to learn their martial arts from. In almost four hundred years the walls of the Jotun Empire have never been breached, nor has anyone attempted to challenge them. Citizens and the soldiers of the Jotun Empire rarely come down from their kingdom making it a rare occasion to see one if a traveler gets lucky enough. Jotun is a common ground for both Svartl, and the Covenant and their respect for the Jotun King are as such that fighting is forbidden within the kingdom. Jotun also holds some of the rarest gems for crafting in the land, as well as materials for making red mana potions which are extremely rare in Yggdrasil. Jotun usually houses Giants, but those of human nature and dwarves have been known to make their stay as well.

Villages within Jotun:

Because they're at such a high altitude and how the kingdom is placed, no villages are located directly next to the kingdom; but two miles at the foot of the Tusks of Jor sit the town known as Dvalinn, Garmr, and Warg. While these towns are not directly next to one another (They're more or less a days ride apart.) They all offer cozy taverns, and inn's with ale so delicious it would warm your soul.

  • Enrollment & Perks: Jotun may have the neutral ground when it comes to housing its guests for the night, but to join the masterful ranks of the Jotun Empire one must know no type of magic save for Metamagic Enhancements only geared towards self buffing ones physical capabilities - They must be in peak condition, and have Martial arts mastered to at least Mediocre level. Those that pass this inspection get an increase to their martial art skill by one whole rank, two free metamagic enhancement abilities that all Jotun warriors know, and armor that more or less boosts the capabilities of ones physical capabilities as long as the armor is worn up to one full tier in three areas (i.e. A full tier boost to one's strength, speed, and endurance). Those who defect from the Jotun may remain within the kingdom as a merchant, tavern keeper, potion maker, cook, or even a jewel or armorsmith. But they may not use their martial art within Jotun territory, proceeding to do so results in the shattering of one's hands and feet as a punishment for breaking the rules.
